After beating Stade Malien 78-73 in the semi-finals, Egypt’s Al Ahly will face Senegal’s AS Douane in this year’s BAL(Basketball Africa League) finals.

In a game played at BK Arena on Wednesday May, 24th, 2023, Stade Malien kicked off the first half time in high gear leading 39-38.

In the third quarter however, Al Ahly, with the help of Aliou Diarra, bounced back leading with 58-53 hence qualifying for the finals.

Speaking to the reporters after the game, Stade Malien’s coach blamed their defeat on the loss of their defense players.

“We played with young players this time round, Al Ahly is an experienced team and as much as we are also experienced, we couldn’t manage without defense players, I however don’t have any regrets”, Kaba Kante stated.

Ehab Amin-Al Ahly’s top scorer for the night with 21 points and 6 rebounds said, “Today we had a very beautiful game but its not the end, we can’t sleep as we have to prepare strongly for the finals”.

Al Ahly’s head coach- Agustin Julbe Bosch Al Ahly’s also agreed with the their top scorer when he said, “I think we have to be more worried about the finals because Petro is a very strong team but, since this is our second time reaching the BAL finals, it means we have experienced players capable of winning”.

BAL finals will take place on May, 27th, 2023 at BK Arena in Kigali Rwanda.
